I have received an e.mail from UK Coal today. Unfortunately we seem to have failed. The e.mail extract is below:

Ian,
Thank you for your letter.
With the health and safety of any visitors uppermost in our minds we generally only allow visitors from the immediate locality and in very limited numbers.
I’m afraid I am unable to offer you a site visit.

Oh well back to the drawing board I guess :doh: miserable so and so's and they all use health & safety as an excuse what rubbish. :x

Thanks for trying anyway Ian :thumbup: I guess we'll have to get some shots from a vantage point like Joe and Luke have. :think:

Oh well, at least you tried, that's a load of dog chod! Using health and safety as an excuse is the easiest way out! Well I'm afraid we have no vantage points no more! :sad:

Perhaps we should have told em we were a bunch of mature uni students doing a course for health & safety and in particular looking a safety in opencast mining, they would have been most accomodating. :lol: :lol:

Didn't think it'd get the go ahead to be honest! The industry is knackered coz of h&s now! You'd have gotten the go ahead if it was in another country with out a shadow of a doubt!
