Swindon works

I will be attending a reunion at Swindon , its marking 50 years of apprentices trained at the works.This massive works built and overhauled railway locomotives,in its final years it also overhauled plant.

It was a first class place to learn a trade, but run very strictly , almost army like whilst you were in the training school.
Its a shame that we have nothing like this in the UK these days :dizzy:

A fantastic reunion yesterday with hundreds of people attending ,met up with some old friends.Out chief instructor was there,now 82 years old.He had a tear in his eye as he met up with his "boys"again.A beer was brewed for this event which was very good. I have ordered a crate. :lol: Swindon works was a very special place.

Three of the 1974 Swindon gang that saved D1062 from the scrap yard 38 years ago.My first go at the restoration of machinery as it turned out.
