Any problems with cables when digging for those pipes?
How are cables marked up on other places in the world?
I know in Sweden cables should be marked up with a yellow stripe a few centimeters above and we have "Kabelanvisning" where you can order out a guy marking up where cables are in the ground to prevent them to be catched with the digger.
The placing of the cables is registrered central by all companies responsible for cables.
Some resources:

we encounter lots of other services /cables /pipes etc , we have drawings which at best are only a guide as they all have disclaimers on them
some of the newer cables / pipes have warning tape ,some of the older electric cables have bricks
we are trained in the use of a cat and genny http://www.radiodetection.com/products.asp?sec_id=2690
and do all our own tracing

the two pipes crossing in one of the pictures are telecommunications and carry fibre optics :dizzy:
it can be very difficult at times having to dig underwater not knowing exactly what is where and it comes down to feel quite a bit of the time
but it keeps me on my toes
