Well,i think i know what Alan thinks Paul,as i had a man from Volvo out this afternoon to do a full inspection on the JCB,with a view to trade it in He did`nt seem to impressed with it for its age, wear on most pins & bushes etc.It was the same man who viewed my Hitachi last year. And that showed less wear & tear than the jcb.
I know people from JCB were visiting our yard this afternoon over the issue. And our workshop forman went off on one when i told him i had no check valve on the dipper ram. There is no mention of that on all the paperwork from the work carried out last week.
We were stopped from crushing this morning due to the rushed rock being too big.We are meant to be crushing 75mm,but with the crusher jaws worn down its more like 150mm After 4 weeks of reporting the issue both by phone & on my weekly paperwork,i finally have 3 fitters coming up tommorrow to fix all the faults on the crusher.Next time, the quarry management will sort it out directly for me
Walters seem to be coming to the end off the muck shift now.It looks like some machines are all ready waiting collection.

Ah well.....Sounds like you might be getting a new machine then! Who's your local JCB dealer? When we've had problems with our 3 JS's they see to sort it quite quickly....mind you nothing has gone wrong quite like your 330!
Should have a look aty Komatsu's because they are brilliant machines! haha

As far as i know Sparkes had 4 210-7s. Last time i saw one which was about 6 weeks ago it looked totally abused and rough for a machine thats about 3-4 years old.
But then again its probibly had more drivers than i have had hot dinners.
Nice machines though the Komatsu.

Komatsu might be a nice machine, but when something goes wrong..........
How long are you prepared to wait for a fitter?
Mind you , the same could be said of Hitachi and the rest of the far eastern makes!
I'm only repeating what I have heard throughout the industry

We dont have any problems with Hitachi when we need them out! Infact i have to say they have excellent backup! Might just be our area though i suppose.....not had anything go wrong with my Komatsu yet so havent had any dealings with Komatsu but i have heard they are pretty darn slow!

Re: Bayston Hill Quarry/Walters
I`m sure our Komatsu 210`s are dash 8`s,late 2006`s,with the larger display/camera screen & the dark grey/black cab filter door next to the cab door.I really like the cabs on them,& find them comfortable for a long days work.i Think we had 6 210`s,but most went to the Ebba(?)Vale steel works job a few years ago & got wrecked. Some had to be resprayed & i know 1 had to have a new cab.I think the 2 worst machines were sold when the job finished.I would`nt say no to trying a new Komatsu 350/8,but REALLY WANT a Hitachi ZX350/3 I really miss my old ZX350
No news on a fix for the JCB,will have to start chasing it up next week,as its awfull to drive,& i`ve now lost one of the tracking speeds(3 speeds)& the boom/slew priority function.Hopefully the kids will come back & finish it off this weekend I`ve removed my kit just in case .
Enclosed are a few pics of the dipper ram,hyd pump, vandal damage & progress so far.Around 700-1000 ton per day.And our nice MF 399 tractor & water bowser, running through the crusher to keep the dust down. The MF has 18 gears & front & rear diff locks, but still wont pull a full bowser up the steep hill to our area.I think the bowser is too big for the MF,& the tractor has a non turbo Perkins 6 cyd engine,it really needs a turbo I have to reverse it up the hill!!Good job i can reverse being a caravaner

Re: Bayston Hill Quarry/Walters
Finning were on my my old 315C for 9 days because they couldnt fugure out what was wrong with it! Everytime they plugged in the computer to try and find a clue as to what was wrong with it something totally different came out! They replaced the fuel pump because they thought it was that....it wasnt (cost them about a grand) they thought it was the idle control valve it wasnt that. In the end they had there own electrician out to it and an experienced fitter and they came up with the solution and hey it worked! haha Good job i wasnt busy with it because that wouldnt have gone down well!
The Komatsu's cabs are absolutely brilliant...the guy that i was with at the start of my operating career jumped in my machine the other day and said he would swap it for his ZX210LC-3....dont know if he was joking or not though!
I know what you mean about the Hitachi's though Neil they are a quality product! Although you are sat lower down than the Komatsu i would say they are on a par in performance with there yellow counterparts!
