According to wiki , which won't be to far away -

'In 2013 the UK was the 4th-largest exporter in the world'

Mind some others put us anywhere up to 10th, suppose it depends on criteria but we are still not doing too bad !

BTY the French state owned Electricity company EDF runs much of our privatised electricity industry. :dizzy:

Mrsmackpaul, No I will stick to the script some, we kept our pound note we struggle to spend Scotish Pounds in our shops, you can use euro's in London a bit but London is full of people with odd looking passports.
I suppose it is true that the U.K. dropped the odd bit of the Commonwealth like a "Burnt Spud" the bit was Australia, I think the Queen was sick of all the "Anti" it was noted that the only Australians that were spotted at a bigish Royal wedding thrash of rescent times, seemed to be outside Buck-Pal looking through the railings, perhapse the invites to the heads were lost in the post or not R.S.V.P.eed fast enough?? after all it is a long way to travel for a booze up.

Keep it lit tctractors

Craig on the morning news here a week or so ago the UK corrospondent was saying that the reason the UK took so long to recover from the GFC was because the UK dosnt export much anymore but they are finally climbing out of the doo doo employments back up wages are back to were they were before the GFC which is all good news. So I wonder what the wiki thingo is on about or maybe the UK news man ? What are the exports from the UK now ? I dont think its cars trucks tractors and that type of thing

Paul

Hi Paul

The company I work for are at the busiest its been for 10 years, we have had 12 months worth of orders for one design of our tow tractors in 3months!!
I have had to employ 2 more production engineers....lets hope it keeps up.

As for export...we export between 10 and 20% of our equipment, the trend fluctuates with the exchange rates. Much of which goes to airports and the oil industries.

Here's a link to the company and what we do.( note the LED lights which are Austrailian  )

I was called out to a loco on a train last week in Didcot, the trains load consisted of 50 new white range rovers destined for Oz via Southampton docks.

Sailed out of Southampton a few times and the export dock there is usually full of new JCB products, Jaguars , masses of new Land Rovers ( all except Defenders strangely ), Mini's , Transit's , CAT dumptrucks etc and an interesting variety of older trucks and plant . See the multi storey car parks here-

Hmm  the Defender and the common rail issue sort of killed any interest in my area, especially when "they" landed new owners with the "fix up" costs, (a couple of thousand and counting last time I chatted to a mechanic a couple of years ago who had only just bought one,) which from memory, I think was pretty much the company's doing and not the service agents in my locale.
