uk coal find it hard to sell the coal up here we where in a meeting with there lads the other week as we been on hrre for over 20 weeks now but they were sayin the coal is not sellingas drax getting it imported now shackings realy like

Macca,you're correct about Drax switching to Biomass.My main source of income comes from importing timber and utilising home grown timber mainly from Scotland and Wales.Due to the upsurge in biomass plants around the country we see new timber that should be allocated to house building or landscaping being chucked straight into the powerstations because they can't get enough biomass!!.This has put upward presure on saw falling timber prices futher restricting growth in the constuction industry :( The price of timber is roughly similiar to coal but the goverment subsides the powerstaions to buy timber instead of coal for emissions reasons :x .
The UK coal industry supplies only about 30% of our coal requirements.We import the rest.If the goverment forced our powerstations and other coal burning industries to use only home produced coal our mining industry would be booming creating much more wealth,growth and job security.
But......of course,that will never happen.... :roll:
