As far as I know some "check valves" can make a machine a little jerky but sometimes the valves can be adjusted to minimize the problem. Adjustment is about adjusting the pressure needed to open the valve. With a high opening pressure it might be that the cylinder don not start moving when you apply very low pressure on it and then it suddenly starts mowing when the pressure reaches the opening pressure of the valve. Some valves can be adjusted by schims (maybe that is not the right translation? "Thin metal washers") or by screws and there are probably some valves that cannot be adjusted.
This is what I have been told but I have no experience from this myself, so you have to try this out for yourself if needed.

Hi Johnny,

No I didn't work on the Oakham bypass with the lads, I was operting the 215DLC on a site in Cambridge for them which I think was before the Oakham job started. I also worked for the King's around Northampton in 96-97 .. great lads to work for and a great firm all round in my opinion. Would not hesitate to go back if I was in their neck of the woods

Did you work on the Oakham job mate ?? Not far from the Cat factory in Desford I think :)

Nick
