Neil Becher has moved in with seven 637s at Shotton,apparently
Banks are getting behind with the earthmove ,but no pushers that
jobs being done by stokey, if anyones passing by that way with a
camera there should be some good pictures to be had

Hi Roly,I heard yesterday that Becher had landed a grader at that job near Liverpool where I snapped some pics of those D8's.I would have thought that job was finished by now,unless there's another section to do.......
P.s,I have located a Rops cab now and might need some advice on the best way to fit the strutts to the chassis,do you have to split the track?.I have got the back plate on with the help of the gas axe and will post some pics when I get chance.Its an Ottoman??? or something like that.

Hi Nicky,it could be an extension but more likely grading and finishing work,
ottoman?never heard of that one,must be foreign be interested to see a
picture of it,split the tracks its makes the job a lot easier

Hi Paul,I went past that job on Sunday and it's totally abandoned.A victim of the credit crunch perhaps?

Nicky, when I have to fit those pigging brackets I found it better to leave the track coupled, I then slide them along a bulk of timber to get them about the right spot, then ether wedge or clamp upto the underside of the fender, then stuff the bolts in, some of those brackets were welded on as not all D8 frames are drilled and threaded ready for them, its a job best done by yourself so you dont get silly offers of help as you struggle, and wear gloves, (they soak up the blood), the hard bit to get sorted is the heavy back plate if it needs drilling for winch control rods, also dont do any bolts up tight until all the bolts are in place.

HI T.C,I got the back plate on fine with only some burning gear work to cut the winch levers into it and to bend the right hand side fender back into shape.The good news for me is that the tractor is a very late 68A 5800 series so all the bolt holes in the fenders and chassis are in place.Phew,that would have ment alot of awkward welding otherwise!
Paul,here's a pic of the machine working last year with the other cab on it.I am fitting the new ROPS cab to conform to H+S at a site where my other dozer is working.I may it there next year so it needs to be ready.
