Well, after 3 long weeks to get the JCB shipped over to France, the beast arrived Thursday night 9.30pm.
Unfortunately, it needs the fuel injector pump to be reconditioned. Hubby taking the pump off tomorrow, so I can bring it back to the UK for it to be mended.
Bonnet and grill mishapen, so will require a new one fabricated or bought.
Just seen some piccies of restored JCB's and HATE to admit it - a was actually smiling at them!! I have been told I am not normal on many occasions!!
will try and upload some piccies tomorrow night,
BUT
if anyone can help in the meantime Hubby has placed an ad in the wanted classified...

Well good luck with your project, i was lucky my machine which was pretty straight, it took me a couple of years to get round to re-spraying it but a nice couple of rare sunny weekends and it was done, there are some before and after pictures on this site if you have a search. At one time you could get the front grilles as 1 piece from JCB then you just cust the old one off and weld the complete new one on, i don't know how much they cost though! it may be worth enquiring. If you get stuck just put a post on here and you will get lots of help and info. Dont forget to post some pictures too!! Piccy of my machine below:

I have been told I am not normal on many occasions!!
What is normal we all share the relationships that we have with machines and the industry we serve, some good, some bad, but we all share them all on CMN
So whats your story with your 3Cmk2 Lis and Paul ?

Good luck with the restoration.
I get a lot of grief from err in doors.I think a cat donkey engine in the kitchen was the last straw.
You will get lots of help from the CMN members.Keep us posted on its progress along with a few photos as you go along.
Cheers

Re: Excited Female looking forward to restoring JCB 3C MK 2
The 3cMk2 came from Fleetwood, near Blackpool, got it transported by a company in Lancaster. From buying the machine to it getting home (we are 40km North of Paris). it took 3 nail biting weeks. Will it be coming on a curtain sider?- if so, we would need a ramp!! OR was it coming on a flatbed?, if so, no other bits or pieces needed?
Well, we got the phonecall, flatbed it was and it was leaving the UK on Monday, would get to us on Wednesday just after mid-day.
Got a phonecall Wednesday mid-day, the truck was only just getting on the ferry!! So, finally is was leaving blighty and estimated arrival was 9.30pm.
When it arrived, obviously it wouldn't start any its own steam because the pump had given up the ghost, so just managed to get it started with easy start, enough to lift the bucket, take off the handbrake and free wheel it off the flatbed.
Luckily err indoors is pretty good about these things, I used to drag race a turbo nitrous bike a few years ago, so she is quite mechanically minded and knows about the cost of things....

Re: Excited Female looking forward to restoring JCB 3C MK 2
1968 to 1970
1970 to 1972
1972 to 1975 was just a few upgrades, like rectangle side light mounted on the inside of rear jack legs, different casting of main boom and dashboard upgrade .. but it was made of thin plastic
1975 to 1977
