Well it’s kept me busy, sane, frustrated, elated during lockdown periods but were on the home straight with the little piece of British engineering, it’s not an A1 restoration but at least I have saved it from a fate and meeting with a crusher jaw and new life as a tin of beans
When I think of the work that's gone into it, it's frightening and pleasing at the same time
Getting the LT1 engine running again
Replacing and fabricating worn rusted and missing panels including wings and floor
4 new 7.00 x 12 tyres
New seat
New geared starting mechanism
New air filter
New exhaust parts to existing
New brake rods
Freeing brakes and handbrake and making new parts
New pins for skip and tipping mechanism
Unseizing gearbox shifter and gears with total strip down and new bronze bushes
Unseizing all cutch and brake pedals and reshimming
Anybody thinking of doing a piece of plant I would say go for it, you'll have highs and lows but the personal satisfaction outweighs the heartache when it is finished
