Hi Martyn, found some photos of my CAT which is still propping up the shed it has been in for the last 25 years,collection is penciled in for the next couple of weeks. Have been studying lots of other photos of same age machine with Choate blade, is the Hyd.tank on the right hand standard.

I was givern a spare hydraulic tank looks the same as that one.
Restoration on hold now as the weather is crap.
Will be on my TD6 next week,weather permitting.

Hi Martyn, as you can see from the photos now removedfrom her 30 year resting place. Rubbish was removed from in front of barn doors, acrow props replaced timbers supported by CAT to support joists, doors were opened chain attached and out she rolled, wanted to raise blade so engaged gear and within 10 foot she started smoking and spluttering!! we quickly abandonded that idea. Winched her up low loader and back to yard.Now under sheet till i can get to steam clean her over xmas. She is a 1942 model and have now found olive green under fenders. I have been told the donkey engine is frosted, do they tend to crack in a particular area. The drain tap was left open so wont know till further investigations.

Believe that the donkey block does not drain completely via the tap and that loosening the heads is the only way to ensure complete draining.

Yes,Angus is spot on,water still remains at the bottom of the water jacket.Always slacken off heads if you want to drain the system If you look close below the heads you may see a crack/bulge or repair.I have had my D2 repaired years ago with no problem.When you fill her up with water,always open the water vent cock on the donkey engine,its on the left side just by the choke/throttle.If this is not done you may get the cooling system airlocked.

Started up the D4 today,give it a good four mins then fired up the diesel.A bit warmer here now at 2* C.Better than the minus 8 last Tuesday night.Anyone fed up of turkey yet
