I got hold of the new August 2008 issue today and its really good- definitely the best for a few issues including an interesting article about the Priestman VC15 from Arthur Smith and a cracking piece about the construction of the M1 by Keith Haddock amongst others.
Moreover inside was a questionaire looking for feedback from readers

Yes I must add my comment that the latest edition is Fantastic!!
I really enjoyed the M1 article and all it's archive Wimpey shots, as I have written elsewhere my working career started with Wimpey Plant and I spent 6 wonderful years working for them.
Keep up the good work Peter D Simpson

Re: CLASSIC PLANT and MACHINERY MAGAZINE
I think current mag (June 2020) is the very last issue.
Peter Love moving to Old Glory and giving that a Classic Plant section.
Covid 19 partly to blame.

Re: CLASSIC PLANT and MACHINERY MAGAZINE
Sad to see the demise of CP&M, seems a bit of a knee jerk reaction to me.
Hopefully coverage will continue in Old Glory, but I won’t be subscribing to that one.

Re: CLASSIC PLANT and MACHINERY MAGAZINE
Gents from what I can gather it is Covid 19 that has put a temporary nail in the coffin of CP&M I have emailed Peter Love and he does intend restarting this magazine if he can win back the advertising, apparently with W.H. Smith being closed due to Covid 19 this has seriously hit sales so Kelsey temporarily pulled the plug.
There will be a separate section on Old Glory magazine to cover Classic Plant and that's all the info I can give you.

Re: CLASSIC PLANT and MACHINERY MAGAZINE
One of the reasons I subscribed to CP&M was because I couldn't always get hold of it at WHS.
Sorry to see it go, let's hope it is only temporary.

Neil I'm sorry to say that in my opinion W.H. Smiths is in its death throws I used to love going through the magazine rack at the local branch in my home town which has now long been closed, now the other shop I used to visit at the massive Merry Hill shopping centre has also closed, the large WHS at Birmingham has been seriously down sized and I'm pretty sure the one at Wolverhampton has also gone, this only leaves the one at Sutton Coldfield so its not looking good for them.
What makes me laugh is they have tried cost cutting by getting rid of staff so there is never anybody around to ask if you require assistance, that is not the way forward, they should look at offering other services or products, to be fair to them they have done this in a way the branch at Sutton also serves as a Post Office and there is a small M&S in there too.
