How can CMN be better (best)?

Hi!

I want CMN to be the best machinery forum around.
What can I do to improve the forum and the site?
What more functions do we need?
As for today we only have the forums and a classifieds-section within the forum.

Soon to come is a download-area where I hope the members will contribute with PDF-files and other files.
Do we need a photo-album?
Links-section?
Video-section?

You have already mentioned technical discussions and I totally agree, machine pictures are very nice but technical discussions are very interesting as well.
But the members decides what to write about.
I have used CMN for some technical discussions and I really appreciate the technical knowledge that our members have.
Using CMN means learning from the best!

And another detail, although a very small one, is that external links always open in the same window. So whenever there´s a link that I click on it ends with me sooner or later shutting down the browser and then I can´t find CMN among my open browsers anymore. Silly me. :dizzy:

I have thought about starting a "translation thread". Some of us don´t have English as our native tounge. As an example we recently got some new Dutch members. And some of us come from Sweden, quite natural as the owner Holger is Swedish in case you didn´t know it. Or actually, he is living in Germany but that doesn´t count.
Although I´m doing quite well there sometimes are some words or expressions that cannot be found in a dictionary. What about a thread for such questions? Is it a good idea?

To be more exact, I am a German citizen, grew up in Sweden and now I live in Germany again. :dizzy:

You should have a caravan, not a house.

I think that a translation-thread would be preatty good for many of the users in "both way"

an photo album like the one on maskinisten.net , would at least I apreciate

It would be better the in the topic of excavators, etc. make an topic of every brand. Now it's very difficult to find.

I know this has been mentioned before but I could not find it. Would it be possible to put all the RSS Bot in one thread that appears on the active topics as one thread?

Keep up all the good work, this ios a suggestion not a major criticism.

Regards Peter

I have looked into that, it is not easy to change. But give me some more time.

Hi,chris here.
"can we make CMN better"
Well, how about this for an idea.
A section dedicated to machinery,of all sorts, that will, unless somebody rescues it, end up in the scrap bin.Contact numbers and exact locations, relating to the present owner, with their permission, should be made available, also,VERY IMPORTANT,the time scale involved before the hot spanner is brought out to play! There is nothing more likely to dampen your spirits, than turning up at a yard where YOU KNOW there is something going begging, only to find that "ooh we cut that up this morning, nobody showed any interest in it,sorry about that" AAAAAARRRRG and other expletives !
I am living in Southern Ireland,at the moment, should anybody have a query regarding a piece of machinery, please get in touch.
My mobile number{if this site will allow it} is 00 353 89 410 8882 IRL
0770 8470 460 UK
Both are "live" and are never switched off,but are left behind sometimes!!
All the best, and thanks for a magic site,
Chris.
