I was going to edit but you beat me too it.

now in Opera

 I visited the howto section with opera and wow, all good. Images are all there.

All things in old Opera that I'd noticed, all now working fine.

I did however still have trouble clicking on your above link to the howto section ... and the penny finally dropped. The link problem is Opera related. My old Opera browser I believe, normally phrases the sid (which is session id) onto the end of an internal forum (whether phpbb2 or phpbb3) link. I noted that out for another link that it had to be in the middle with the #pxxxxx at the end here.

I manually altered the link with the &sid in the middle and presto, no issue at all. I am wondering if I had done that a couple of days ago if I would have had an issue at all though.

Now I'm wondering how it was, Midori seemed to have the same issue a week or so back, as it does phrase the links correctly. Firefox too, I believe I had noted the same problem, but I'm wondering if I somehow managed to foul the works on my end somehow. It is typically pretty late when I'm on the forum here, so apologies, the whole problem I "saw" might have been user error.

Edit now in firefox 2

Have yet to test the "new posts" page

The how to link you posted works fine as firefox must be phrasing the sid correctly.

all good.

Can I just add, what you all do behind the scenes is amazing but I have absolutely no idea how to drive one of these things. If I'm honest I just want to log on and it work first time, selfish I know but it's no different to my wife's attitude to her car!

Happy computing everyone! (And thanks to those in the engine room)

Like when Windows was released (and continues to change), smartphones were introduced, Apple products were released etc, not everyone likes the change straight away. Things take a while to become normal again.

As mentioned previously, upgrading is also about security, flexibility, compatibility etc. Obviously if things don't work that's one thing, however, there has been some real investment and effort to keep this site great, which I think is really impressive.
