Re: New Members - please introduce yourself
Hi my name is Mary. I thought there may be people who would remember Dick Hamptons Earthmoving Ltd. who had a headquarters and yard at Blacknest Nr Alton Hampshire. My Father worked there from the start of the company at Blacknest in the late 1950s until he died in 1973. He loved his lorries and travelling the country. Whilst looking through some old photos I came across many photos of people, lorries and machinery that Dad had taken over the years. Sorry chaps, this site seems to be mostly male enthusiasts, but I just wondered if there were any of the old Dick Hamptons employees still alive who remember the old days and would be interested in seeing the photos. I have posted a few of the very early ones but I have many more if anyone is interested.

Hi, Mary, good to have you on board! There is already a Hampton thread running so why not add your images etc to that rather than have the info fragmented across the forum?

Re: New Members - please introduce yourself
Hello from Atlanta,Georgia,USA. I guess it is time to introduce myself,my name is Peter Sulley and I left England in 1998 to come here.I have worked with Plant (Heavy Equipment here) for just about all my life and I am now retired.I worked as an operator from the age of 15 when I left school and then progressed through life as a foreman ,Plant inspector, site superintendent,Clerk of Works, Heavy Haulage owner operator and then when I came here started all over again as an operator and then foreman and then Superintendent.I have been fortunate to operate a wide variety of machines over the years and worked on some large jobs both in UK and here in USA.and gained a wealth of knowledge regarding machinery and its utilisation. In the UK I worked for a few Earthmoving companys ie. Larry Webb, Blackwells and P Fox which was a smaller company but had some big jobs.
I saw that some time ago members were asking about info on Larry Webb and I intend to contribute something when I get down to gathering all my thoughts.
