Righto,
So it turned up on monday and have been doing the usual fluid service to it.
Flushed the engine and replaced the oil and oil fitler,
Changed hydraulic filter and topped up fluid,
Drained coolant, flushed, replaced top and bottom rad hose and refilled with a good strong 50/50 antifreeze mix
Changed fuel filter and cleaned out the separator unit while i was at it (christ they were gunked up!) drained the diesel tank and got as much gunk out as i could, filtered the diesel and replaced and a good strong injector cleaner went in too!

Got the parts to change the spider in the hydraulic drive shaft...
The guy at the dealer said they have never needed to order a replacement 'yoke' spline end for the drive shaft, its most probably excess play in the spider bearing on the front that needs changing so since that was by far the cheapest option i took his advice and just got a replacement spider bearing!

I still need to fit that, but i cant get at the bolts that hold the hydraulic drive shaft to the engine!
Any help on how to get that shaft out so i can swap the bearing out?

I was told to undo the bolts, pull the shaft out at the engine end then slide the yoke off the hydraulic pump... I can get a socket wrench/spanner onto the nuts, but i just don't have the space to get any leverage on it to crack the nuts off!

I will also get some more photos up soon as well!

When using the backhoe, you can only use one ram at a time with valve full open, to run more than one you have to feather the valves about half way and even then you loose 50% movement speed... (No change after replacing hydraulic filter and topping fluid up)
As its an old digger i wasn't sure if this was normal because the pumps is lower pressure than a modern or if it might be a valve/pump issue?

Have posted on your other thread, but in relation to the hydraulic issues, is the pump cavitating when working?

Not that i know of, but ive been given some test procedures to do to check for starvation etc, lifting loader whilst cycling bucket open closed etc, som back hoe tests too...
Im off to hospital this morning so will be doing them when i get the time!

I know the spider on the drive shaft wants replacing but not sure if there is a better way to remove it without stripping the whole front end down to do i!

Hope all goes well for you today the, let us know how you get on with the machine. Sorry, but a driver/enthusiast, not a fitter so cant help much with the taking apart side of things. :-(
