Hi Guys, I'm really not used to this, I don't belong to any other forum sites so i'm a newbie at this.
I live in New Zealand, (and have done so all my life). I started my work career as an apprentice Automotive Electrician in the mid sixties and have been in the trade up until approx 2 years ago.
I've seen many changes in the industry and thankfully managed to stay abreast with the technology.
One of the reasons I joined this forum was to ask a specific question. This has been bugging me for years. Between 1960 and1980 here in New Zealand, there existed two Mack Cranes.
They were originally brought into NZ by a company called Lysaght Cranage and were domiciled in Whakatane NZ. They were onsold to a company in Auckland called Carlton Cranes.
I know, because I did lots of work on them. Companys changed hands and assetts were re-distributed and I have never seen those cranes since approx 1980.
They were a futuristic looking machine, powered by 6 cylinder turbo mack engines and a KATO superstructure. They had 4 Axles, (2driving and 2 steering).
They resembled something out of the TV puppet series "THUNDERBIRDS". The steering axles were set back from the nose of the crane and the driver sat about 10 feet in front of the steering axles.
The cab had a massive windscreen that was set on an approximate angle of 45 degrees and sloped down like a wedge.
What intrigues me most is that I don't have any photos of these machines and I have tried for many years to get some. (not necessarily the same ones, but the same model)
If there is anyone out there that is able to help.
It would be most appreciated.

Welcome to the forum Grant.

Not worked with many, but the wedge, single massive windscreen rings a bell. A bit like the one below but with a much lower profile cab, single widsreen.

Thanks Trevor, as you can probably tell I'm a real novice at this. The NK400 you listed is similar but the nose on the mack was much further away from the drivers door, They were quite a large crane as I'm 5ft 10" and the bottom of the door was at my eye level
Regards Grant

I am thinking of a different machine, but yes, I'd also imagine the one you're thinking of, has a more pronounced wedge than that of the example I listed.

Hi, another grey hair here. Not an operator but engineer/surveyor/agent/QS/estimator for Gleeson and then John Jones, totalling 36 years.
Retired now but no regrets.
Cheers
Chris.

Hi, I found your site while looking for some service information on a Kubota KX36 mini digger. I am an experianced car mechanic and one of my customers asked me if I could service his digger. I have downloaded some info from the download section that should get me started. Thanks for the great site. :)

Greg.
