Great Pics Jeremy,

Just love the Black smoke shots of machines under load!!

No doubt Stuart or Ross will let us all know what causes the smoke belch??

Well i supose i'll have to take the yellow blood comment, although i would like to add that it is "off highway" yellow, not some dreadfull shade like Uttoxeter yellow............ ;)

Black smoke on acceleration is normally too much fuel and not enough air, this can be caused by restricted air filters or a torn Diaphragm in the air fuel ratio control valve. Some engines just naturally like to puff out a bit of black! The 3408 (as in the 771) is one such candidate, and in the 771 on cold mornings tend to belch grey smoke out on initial start up.....

And in my defence...... it was a Used machine with a 5 Gallon overhaul for the show M'lud,

Got a couple of decent re-builds running in the shop i'll get some pics of....

Cheers
