Well sorry if i harp on about Cat machines all the time, but when youre surounded by them all the time it kind of limits your options!
Ross mentioned on an earlier post about the new Cat Haul truck having a centre mounted cab. Here are a couple of pics of the new 770 & 772 which replaces the old 769 and 771 Quarry Truck.
The cab on these truck is from the 740 articulated hauler.
As the song goes, weve come a long way baby......
(although not when you look at the bare bones of the truck)
Also a couple of promo shots of the 773F & 775F

Hi Stuart.Dont worry about harping on about Cat.They are the best in the world with most items of plant.
The first rigid truck I ever worked on was a 769B.Levack had 5 of them. They were all good trucks with lovely sounding engines.Same motors in Cat 16s and back of the 657s I think.

Whats the crack with the 770s? Does the bonnet tilt over so you can get to the power plant?

The bonnet doesnt tip on the truck, the rad is in the front, there is fair access in through the side, and plenty of room around the engine to get in, this photo was taken on a truck with no sound suppression around the engine, most coming into the UK have full sound supression around the engine, these are bolt on panels and make it a bit difficult but only take half a dozen bolts to remove out the way, the cab is also fairly easy to remove.

As usual great pictures, Stuart.
Looks like these trucks have detachable wheel rims, is that a new feature on CAT trucks of this size ? Why would they make them detachable ?
Cheers, John.

Hi Stuart,
I was looking at the way the rims are attached to the dishes with bolts near the rim.
I would have expected the dishes to be welded to the rims.
Those on this new machine look like (agricultural) tractor wheels which are made that way so the track can be adjusted by changing the positions of rims and dishes.....hope this makes sense....

Does that mean that the 'dishes' are integral with the hubs, i.e., the hubs extend right out to the rim of the wheels ?
