i could be wrong, but i believe that Weldon plant bought 4 769Bs from blackwells around ten years back. they are still around but do not see regular use. i'll take a couple of pics next time i take the dog up that way!

I believe Dick and Chris blackwell bought at least 12 brand new 769 dump trucks for use on the clevedon section of M5 motorway. They were used to pull out 2 million tonnes of rock and deposit in the valley below. It was left to settle the ground for a year or so,picked up put through crushers and put down again by pirate tippers,my dad Bill Conway had that contract.THe project manager for Laings pulled Dick blackwell out of his roller when the contract got behind schdule.THe job was flooded with about 50x hired dump trucks ,many came from umo plant, these russian dumptrucks, were constantly breaking down the russian fitters spent most of the time under them.It was the early seventies i was about 20.

Hi Colin,
Was your dad the Conway who had 657s stripping the overburden off the cement chalk pits at Swanscombe near Dartford, Kent - mid to late 60s?
