Pete I mean't to post a link to this myself as I only came across it a day or so ago, I can't recall if it's already on here or not, there is more than one video so well worth a look.

Like it

Despite old kit quite a well organised muck shift with everything on the move and minimum loading time.
The AEC's had already had one tough life with Wimpeys!

Notice the number of Renault 4 vans , these were issued to Cementation engineers to save money over Land Rovers. Bean counters reckoned they just needed something with good ground clearance most of the time , bet they soon wrecked them !

Well I am not so sure Craig? We used to see a lot of French farmers hammering little vans. Cheap to buy and run. How many would one Land rover have bought?
The old AEC Mammoth Majors were a proper piece of kit by the look of them. They look like they have had severe beatings but still kept going grossly overloaded.

You could be right, probably nicer to drive as well .
Think they were designed like the 2CV 'to carry four passengers with a tray of eggs across a ploughed field without breaking them '
