The world's first car that can carry the load of 450 tonnes, was tested at the coal mine "Chernigovets" in the Kuzbass region, according to "Rossiyskaya Gazeta". Former "world champion" in payload was a German Liebherr-T282B, but its capabilities are much more modest: This model is able to carry "only" 363 tons.

Dimensions of machines are impressive: length - 20 m, width - about 10 m, height - 8 m. But even more impressive propulsion power - 4665 hp And then she recalls not so much a traditional machine as a hybrid model. Under the hood Belaz - two diesel engines with 2 332.4 hp each. However, to transfer such a crazy power to the wheels through a traditional gearbox will not work - no construction will not stand. Therefore, diesel engines driving a generator, producing electricity, which supplies motors built into the wheel.

Power enough to move quite rapidly: dumper is able to reach 64 km / h. And this despite the fact that even with an empty body, it weighs 360 tons. Well, with a full load - 810 tons.
When this machine is to Guinness record in January 2014, the body downloaded over regulatory limits, Dump truck drove by a testing ground load weighing 503.5 tons.

This Belaz - the first instance of such a model - released by order of the holding "Siberian Business Union" specifically to work in Russia at the coal mine "Chernigovets".

Good stuff there Victor :claphands: yes most large diesel powered machines have no choice but to essentially become very large electric generator sets that generate power for the electric motors that power the whole machine; I think the largest non-electric drive may have been the Caterpillar 797 which is diesel hydraulic and drives through a torque converter and automatic gearbox.

Just doesn't look at rugged as the 797's and 282's does it?! I'm sure it is but still looks more like a prototype to me.

It is very intersting what will be the real fuel consumption because the empty truck is heavier than the standard haulers.
The body looks very shallow to me. I doubt the truck can hold 450 metric tons. For every mining truck is normal to carry the designed load + 10% extra - i.e. 496 metric tons.....

It is impressive, however, I still don't like how it looks (not that this is a puchasing consideration)!!!
