Cat 769s with a difference

Post #1 by modelman093 » Tue Dec 30, 2008 9:13 pm

More from the holiday sort out!
These 769s with flat bed bodies (made by Bowmaker I believe) were working on building a breakwater at Port Talbot in 1966/67.

Hello Angus
Any more photos of that project. Looks like a big RB was used to place the rocks.

Regret no - I was a 20 something year old management trainee with Cat based at the Glasgow factory and was doing the rounds of some sites with the area managers and never got nearer to the action than where I took those pics! When I joined Cat I was one of 3 new trainees in the sales and service department that was attached to the factory, the other two, one from the London School of Economics and the other from the motor industry had never been near a machine and found it all rather strange but having been brought up on a farm with D2s, 4s, 3-cylinder D6, TD14 & 18 it was a good day out for me - other than not being able to get my hands on one that is!

Yes, the two red and white machines are Limas.
