Pavement Roller Perkins
Hi, here we have a Barford and Perkins pavement roller. Age i dont know, but i think we have the log book somewhere. Its been in the shed for along long time. Must have been an animal to handle. The engine being a water cooled single side valve, it might be a JAP but somebody might know different. The radiator fan is a nice single alloy casting. Would be nice to get her running ......................one day. Anyone else got any details?

Re: Pavement Roller Perkins
Interesting Machine John, never seen a photo of anything like that.
Should create a bit of interest at one of the shows. Dont know were you are located but there was a good roadbuilding display last year at the Essex country and steam show at Barleylands Essex. The Road roller association visit some of the shows with a tent and they have loads of info on old models. They had a tent at Belvoir castle show for the last few years as well.
Has it got any manufacturers plates on it that are readable with a model and serial numbers ? it must be early as B&P merged with A&P in 1934 to create Aveling-Barford, and a mister Perkins (Jnr) went off to build diesel engines that became rather popular.
Heres the RRA web site try them for info - http://www.r-r-a.org.uk

Thats the sort of thing i go round shows looking for, along with the more common stuff to get photos of to add to Tractor wiki and post on the forums.

Hello John
Never seen anything like that either.
What a brilliant restoration project. Be interesting to watch progress and see it done.
Great tool if you dont have to let it pull you about.
