D8K goes out after a year

Post #1 by Jon Umpleby » Sat Mar 30, 2013 5:17 pm

After a very wet year i finaly got a small job for the D8 building a small flood bank.It has been in the shed for a long time.Managed to do a few repairs like recon the water pump and dril and bush a spocket segment that had just started to come loose.Hoping for a better year and a big job to get stuck into.

Blimy Clive, I always hope things calve down, stuff the weather, nothing I like more than a big oil leak or a mystic (Magic) clatter from inside the big bit?? but I must say Jons Charabance looks in real strong nick well up to a few shifts. ;) :shifty:

Thanks for all the comments guys. I am based in Northallerton ,North Yorks. I have enjoyed following all the topics particualy Nick's sceduled maintanence. The paint looks better on camera than it actually is.At some point in its life it belonged to Biwater Plant so was painted blue. It is ready for spraying really but will have to wait.Pins and bushes are nearly ready for a turn but will have to wait too.Bit like painting the Fourth Road Bridge ,you are never finished. In response to TC I will try and get some more pictures downloaded .Seem to have lost a few on disk.Cheers Jon

I remember Bi Waters horrible blue and white.I worked with some of their 68A tractors at Dumblane. They also had a new D8N there too.I also worked along side some of Don Fords D8's too.He had one like yours still in blue.another of his same D8's with a cab (Klippen?) like yours was sold at his sale.they were late series 66V 6000 series I think.TC will know more about the blue ones.
Williams of Chirk may still own some of Bi Waters blue 22A and 68A D8H's.
Good luck with the job.The muck will start drying out soon.

This one belonged to Don Ford so I am told then Biffa.Adie Morris bought it as a non runner then did the engine, pistons liners and heads then sold it to Fenland tractors which is where I bought it.It is the very last 66v06328.
