I was going on the state of it, the 8L and 9N are basically the same, no? I only ever ran one 8L and it was a really lively dozer and I liked it, none of the 9N's that I ran ever had the same snap to them. I suppose that particular 8L could have been one of those tractors you get from time to time, that is better than normal?

Hi Russel,
Think I know where you might have ran the 8L !!, photo looks like an L to me also as the back idler is quite close to the sprocket which gave a steeper angle to the track on these tractors

It's a D9N, the D8L had a radial ripper in both SS & MS and this machine has a parrallelagram 4 barrel ripper
