Hey Guys,

I want to build a custom 1/50th model of the D6T and a Towed Scraper. I dont really know anything at all about dozer and tow scrapers but i like the idea alot (more since ive seen more pics of them on here).

What type of box would be suitable for a D6T to tow? Im thinking of using a 631E model from ertl for the box? Would this be suitable?

Here's some pics from RB Services wesite from when it was working on my current site. This is the type of look im going for.

I know this is more of a model topic but i posted it in here to find out what scraper box i could use.

Great pics Joes, firstly,I have only ever worked alongside a few D6 and boxes but I can tell you that an Ertl 631E is not right for a D6.It's more for a D9/D10 size. The smallest 1/50 scale scraper model that would look like a towed box that I can think of is an NZG Cat 621A but this would match up with a D8 really.I suppose you could marry a Joel 631D 1/75 scale up to a 1/50 scale D6H.

Oh right! I told you i knew nothing about them haha! So the search continues! haha...

That D6 and Box belongs to R B Services and i think there from Northamptonshire somewhere. We hired them to topsoil a Hockey pitch wich we were originally mean to be top soiling with a 360 grading it off and me loading the dumpers feeding the other machine. We came to the comprimise of getting these in as we still had a lot of drainage to do and roads to cut.

They seemed to know what they were doing and had it knocked out in about a week. They didnt half leave the place a mess though.

Is this the model your talking about nicky?

Of in a slight tangent here, but I picked up a custom made Norscot D10 & scraper off e-bay a year ago.
I'll post some pics of it next week.

A brief visit to my work bench
heres the link to a thread where i stuck up some pics of my D155 & Box thats the NZG 621 pan with a new neck grafted on.

I'd go with Nicky's idea of using the old Joal 631 in 1-75 and like mine it'll need a scratchbuid neck on it

feel free to ask if youve got any questions

As promised above, here are the photos of the D10N & 631E box I picked up off e-bay already converted (just to prove I'm a scraper owner too    )

Seems both are Ertl made, the scraper bowl has 1856F written on the bottom, not sure what it relates to though.
