Does anyone know if the BTD8 will take track gear from other machines?
I heard that maybe TD9 chains will fit,but not really sure .
Also heard that D4 chains might fit,but I imagine there are a few differing sizes of D4 gear.
Any thoughts or experience on this?
Thanks,
Jim

Re: BTD8 Track gear
Hello Jim
Looking at my list, TD8, TD9,BTD8, 125 and 150 are the same.
100% rail is 85.7 mm 50% wear is 83 mm
I know 125 and BTD 8 are the same as I have owned both machines in the past.
Cheers
Martyn

Re: BTD8 Track gear
Hi Martyn,
Thanks for your reply.
I have a Berco spec sheet that tells me that TD9/91/92 ,TD8B,125,150 & a host of other machines use same link .However, when we tried to match a 9-92 chain to a BTD8,the rollers & idlers on the BTD8 didn't line up well, even though the sprocket took the chain.
I'm wondering if the rollers & idlers are the original fit.
If I get a picture from my friend ,I'll post it.

Hello Jim
Thats the trouble with old machines, some fit odd ball parts to cut the cost of putting a machine back into service. One of my BTD6 Drotts was modified by its previous owner. They welded the rear pedastal top roller carrier to the middle of the track frame .Effective, but not right.
Good luck in getting the machine sorted.

Re: BTD8 Track gear
Hi Jeff,
That would be good.Just the basic Pitch,,Bush size ,Link numbers & link widths(inner & outer).
If the chains are for sale, let me know by PM.
Martyn,
I think this machine has been patched up with various parts ,so it's a Frankenstein dozer.
I have a customer with a MF2244.We found out that his machine has a dodgy bullgear pinion ,made up or sourced from elsewhere.
I don't understand the thought process of putting misfit parts on a good crawler.
Regards
