Gents – we roll our cricket square with a Stothert & Pitt 32 RD powered buy a Lister diesel. On the front of the engine, below and to the right of the injector housing there is a machined hole that appears deep enough to go into the sump, but whatever used to be on the top of this hole has now disappeared. The top is flat and shiny as if some kind of a plug has gone missing. There is no thread on the sides of the hole.
Can anyone please tell me what this hole is and whether I should plug it with something before running the roller again.
Many thanks
Something missing from my Lister diesel engine

Re: Something missing from my Lister diesel engine
O.K. obviously a photo would help enormously but usually on a Lister the crankcase access plate is below the injector pump, in most cases this would house both the dipstick and the oil filler. Listers can be configured in many different variations to cope with the many applications they were once used in, so this is general advice just to give you a clue.
there are old fitters and bold fitters but no old bold fitters...
