I have done a fair bit on the Hydrovanes.
Service kits are on Ebay ,type in Hydrovane.
Starting is straight forward, from cold.Go to preheat position on the switch, older machines are fitted with a thermostart. You will se a lever on the compressor air end, ( on compressor air end body same side as start key ) pull this lever up. Go to start engine after pre heat.turn engine over till it fires, release lever on air end casing.Run for a few minutes to warm through then couple up air line and use.
Oil in air is a sign that separators need servicing, but can also be wrong grade of oil.
The air end on an 90D Hydrovane is a CWD 66.oil is Shell rotella SX 30 takes 5 ltrs

Contact one of the Ebay sellers, compressor man,I think he goes under. I will ask around. There is a firm near Bristol that may have old Hydrovane stock. They did have a Hydrovane 90 D for parts there.

Well just like to say thanks for the help so far. I finally got round to get it striped down and got the new parts for the seperator (AAcompressorkits). next problem is getting it back together as I need to press the end cap down to be able to get the the tube with the lifting eye in. has anyone done this if so what did you use to press it down?

cheers john
