Nice snow scenes there Chris.
Is the First one the "Ice Breaker" for when it all freezes up instead of being lovely clean fresh snow.
(like our road that they failed to clear and is now 3" of packed snow/Ice and like a skating rink.

Re: Merry Christmas Everybody
Great pictures Chris, its great to see some snow scenes, seeing as its missed us completely, oh we had a little dusting a week ago, so its bit hard to see why there has been so much trouble up country
Oh Dave, there was a time when they called all the plant hire companies into play with real bad snow, but they put a stop to that saying it cost too much, surely its costs much more with most of the country at a standstill .. i can remember back in 1987, 10 whole days we were out, but we got the roads running again.

Wow all day in a mitzi 120 - what was it really like??? was it any better than operating a 580D? Having the controls infront of you as opposed th the side mounted mechanical joy sticks but with a narrower cab. No foot contorls to bother you and possibly a quieter engine. Was it any quicker than a Hymac? - I can only judge around 20 mins in each at a time so to write a fied report for me woud not be accurate

Hi Martyn
Yes round here the farmers used to do the ploughing, and the odd contractor for the bad bits. One real bad year they got the plant from the Coal board on the job, a big (then) loading shovel, digging the vlillages out from the 6' plus drifts. People walked to work 5 miles to Sheffield outskirts were the busses all terminated, if they could get up the hill that far.
The other day there was a block being interviewed on TV about it and he was saying they used to do the snow ploughs but stopped a few years back as the rules and regs was too much hassle to not be guaranteed any work, from filling out a great big tender form and submitting all the risk assessments, insurance, time sheets systems for EU rubbish etc.
Mate of mine last year had a good ne with the NHS. the contract had expired and then we had a late snow storm and they were panicking phoning up for him to go and grit there roads and paths. Suddenly they decided he had actual got the contract it just hadent gone in the post yet
Dave
