I found my old CITB operators card that expired on 30/06/99, had it from the old days when i was jobbing around.
Is it possible to reactivate this without sitting the full tests for the machines listed (Tractor, 360 & 180)?

errr, don't be silly Richard......this is a revenue earner now. It is continually changing so you have to sit more tests at a cost to you to renew it! :(

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news

:D Oh well, it was worth asking :D I remember doing the safety awareness course on a Saturday back in the 80s, I just dug the card out just now to see what categories I had put down - I remember there were others that did the course who put down practically everything on the list, i thought that was taking the pee at the time so only listed those i had a vague connection with.

That was the trouble, some blokes put down every machine they'd heard of whether they'd seen one or not!

No cash in a simple renewal. Each machine category has a separate test and separate fee, it soon racks up!

The big problem is that most old school drivers were multi skilled ie. drove multiple categories shovels, excavators, dumpers, dozers, graders etc etc, now its so expensive to get qualified men only do a few then drivers on the scarce categories get hard to find. I'm sure that's why there are so few CPCS blade drivers, the opportunities to drive get experience and get a ticket are few and far between. God only knows where you find a decent CPCS grader, shovel or dragline driver these days!

I keep throwing in the CMPE one. None of them are actually specified or required by law.

didn't know that.

What about insurance for jobs, do they say that unless you achieved a recognised level of competence then you are not covered?..........or at least wait for you to make a claim before pulling that joker out

Some of the better agencies may help you out if you go onto their books, i let my tower crane licence lapse and i have had an agency offer to sort it all out for me.
