Great pictures and thanks for sharing them with us.
The Challenger 1 is a rare machine, having a twin cylinder version of the Field Marshall 2 stroke engine (4.2 litres in single cylinder form, so the twin was 8.4 litres ?). The engine was a commercial failure, consuming a lot of oil and very unreliable, but nevertheless an interesting machine.

Hi John,
Just found these brilliant photos of these outstanding tractors.I apreciate the hard work and time someone put into turning them out. Thanks for posting SX650.
On the engines though, I beleive the Field Marshall has a bore and stroke of 6.5 and 9 in. Thats 298.6 cu. in. and I just worked out that's 4.89 litres.
The Fowler has a Marshall 2 cyl. vertical engine bore and stroke 5.25 and 6 in. x 2 Thats 259.6 cu in. and if my maths is right that's 4.25 litres.
The Marshall develops 40 h.p. at 750r.p.m. The Fowler 50 h.p. at 1,250 r.p.m.

Fred

You got some good ones there showing how tightly packed the tractors were.

The Ford and Forson club put on a great selection of tractors but I have a grip with them as they cram em in too tight :dizzy: but are prety good at having some info with the tractor.

Then the Ferguson lot have stupid plastic bunting in front  So you cant get a decent shot of each tractor. I gave up with the Fergusons and Masseys in the end as climb over to get front and rear photos was too much of a pain. I tried to get every tractor but struggled to get round in time with waiting to get clear shots of some.

Was a good day once the flood waters receded.

A Good selection of very early machines as well. :D

Dave
