Re: 3CX transmission issues?
That's right pete. Checked when cold with the engine off. When the oil is low, they usually just don't drive at all. You could remove and wash the internal suction filter (adjoined to the flat plate with two bolts down below the spin on filter) and see if it helps but poor pushing power is more likely...

Re: jcb hydraulic oil
If it was completely empty of hydraulic oil,as in rams, pipes, valves and reservoir being dry,it would need around 195 litres to refill.

Re: how to change trans oil - 1400B 1986
Wouldn't worry about changing the oil because it's mixed as they're both pretty much the same thing, just that one was originally from Ford and the other from General Motors. Assuming that as it has the electric shuttle shift,as you mention the shifter solenoid, so it'll have to have the JCB Synchros...

Re: Hydraulic tank / air lock.
There's nothing to be found in the other side of the tank. The two filters you should find in the RHS tank...hyd suction and steering. http://www.classicmachinery.net/forum/images/userpix/2325_26CGRIMZMZR481683326207.jpg http://www.classicmachinery.net/forum/images/userpix/2325_GFTOOFOIJMUN168332632...

Re: Hydraulic tank / air lock.
There should be an aluminium sealing washer on the drain plug. Don't forget there should be two filters in there... and the main suction filter should have a seal between it and where it bolts on. It may still be attached to the filter. Kerosene or petrol and a good blow through with an airline shou...

Re: 1983 3cx starter motor
You could just try replacing the solenoid which is an SS707,but I'd recommend fitting a Mahle(used to be Iskra, then Letrika, now Mahle) reduction starter instead. IS1023 for a 4.2KW starter or IS1201 for a 3.2 KW. The 3.2 may well be ample enough since you're in a warm part of the world! Just don't b...

Re: Hydraulic tank / air lock.
Prop the bucket/loader securely that it can't drop on you and high enough to give access to the round sideplates. Drain the tank and then,if you're cleaning the filters, remove the right hand plate to reveal a suction strainer held on with a bolt and a steering strainer screwed on,which is down in th...
