Re: JCB 3c3 advice please?

Thanks William-thats great. Should I use Dexron II type fluid? any idea on how much I will need? Would no drive like this put you off buying the thing or is it normal to have the odd leak from the Brockhouse? What I dont want to do is spend a fortune on oils before agreeing to buy it,only to find ou...

Re: JCB 3c3 advice please?

Thanks Elle, thats really good of you-no doubt I`ll be in touch to pick your brain! Quick update; Got the machine running,-fired up first time, runs nicely so thats good news. Downside, the shuttle/gearbox wont select drive forward or back in any of the 4 gears, and when the long dipstick was removed fr...

Re: JCB 3c3 advice please?

Thanks William-I`m grateful for your positive advice! Hopefully we`ll get it going in the next day or so and see if it works. The ground under the machine is well oil soaked which looks serious, but we will see eh. The brockhouse torque-are they repairable/replacable? is it viable to change to a manu...

Re: JCB 3c3 advice please?

Another option put to me,as still no news about the 3c3, by a guy 3 miles from me is this 3c mk2. Back actor bushes seriously worn (Is it difficult to replace these?),Steering orbital leaks, needs new tyres, and new flexible hoses at rear he says.On plus side,he said it ran well 2 years back? (and the...

Re: JCB 3c3 advice please?

Quick update: Hopefully its still on the cards, but the owner has now got a replacement engine he intends to stick in over the next month or so. So we`ll see how it goes from here on. Seem to read everywhere that the controls are horrible on these compared to 360 machines that I`m used too-just hope ...

Re: Zetor 5245 and the like

I`m pretty new on here too,-but its great! I`ve got an old 70`s Zetor 5711,rough as nuts!,but works faultlessly whenever I need it too. I`ve recently made it run on 4 cylinders too, after a well meaning friend `tuned` it 8 years ago! (- the fuel supply to number 1 was virtually non existant as it had...

Re: JCB 3c3 advice please?

Thanks you guys for your help. All of your pointers gladly made note of. It makes sense to learn the JCB controls-although it might well take me a while to get used to it! And thinking of it,I`m pretty sure the engine is yellow (hopefully not just blown over!),so maybe original? At worst it means an...

JCB 3c3 advice please?

Hi all,my first time on this great site so here goes! I`ve been offered a 79 3c3,which has a good tight back actor,no leaks, manual box, standard loader bucket and 2 rear buckets. Its a tidy looking machine too,but has a few issues that need sorting really. The leyland/BMC engine burns oil according to...
