Re: JCB 3CX 1983 Clutch Pack
Another alternative would be to drop out the shuttle and gearbox, and send the shuttle unit to Simon Vicary at Vicary plant. He will exchange a repairable unit for 650+VAT. There would be a surcharge if there is major component damage.

Re: Replacing JCB brakes
No don't use the DOT 4. Perhaps someone can confirm but I think it was straight light hydraulic oil. The mineral would be safer than the DOT 4 which will most likely b*gger the seals.

Re: JCB 814S Grey Cab
What would you guys estimate then condition to be of the sprockets in the link.
The triple pump would be off the 812.
Interesting what Hugh said about the hyd suction hose. It is starting to go out of shape on our one.

Re: Hymac Excavators
There is as nice little explanation of the Ford D engine, Dorset (2700 series) and Dover engines.

Re: JCB 814S Grey Cab
Oh hell I'm no expert  . From what I have gleaned the last of the 800 models with the grey cabs were better thought of than earlier models with updates to the hydraulics that left them less prone to leaks. The powerslide clamping mech is effectively two toggles or butterflies that are pressed...

Re: Hymac Excavators
No Pete the 211 and the 1501 are totally incompatible ; Druid the 580C in your pictures is the early version with the sliding cab door and the Ford engine not the Perkins, it is remarkably straight for a machine of that age but looking at the photo's the dipper stick is on the lower of the two posi...

Re: Hymac Excavators
The 1501 has been for sale for some time and I did think about going to have a look. It looks straight but I think it is a tad too dear. They were supposed to be well built and sorted but all too late from what I have understood both on here and elsewhere. The 211 looked a cheap machine if it was to...

Not seen one of these? Looks quite a late machine.
