Re: Classic dumper rescue and ident

I am fairly certain that the oil filters on the ST range were spin on, so based on the information Craig has supplied and the type of filter you have fitted, an SR1 engine looks to be a reasonably safe bet.

Re: Classic dumper rescue and ident

Hi David. Listers did produce a range of engines in the ST range. In your case a single cylinder denotes it is an ST1. A company called Sleemen and Hawken are agents for Lister parts and can be found on eBay. They are based in Teignmouth in Devon and can be contacted directly at sales@sleeman-hawken...

Re: Dumper identification

Hi Ronan. David Cornwallis looks to be the best bet on this one. I have found a PH parts list on his website and on page 2 it shows the engine ID plate with the engine number and the first two digits which signify the year. Something sticks in my mind to ascertain the year you add 50 on to the numbe...

Re: International Harvester motor scrapers in the UK

From memory there was an ES200 Payscaper in the country which I saw at Welland Steam Fair about four years ago, but it wasn't working due to some mechanical issues. I think it may be the same one as was shown in CPM volume 1 number 12 dated August 2003. Unfortunately I don't have any photos of my ow...

Re: Digger Man Blog at Earthmovers

Hi Nick. I was fortunate enough to get the book for Christmas and agree wholeheartedly on your review. I used to collect the A3 sized adverts from Construction News and got rid of them when I got married. Big Mistake :dizzy: . It was good to see some of the photos in the book which were of the poste...

Re: International Harvester motor scrapers in the UK

Hi Angus. Quite a number of IH scrapers made it over to the UK in the 1950's and 60's. Many of which were operated by Lumley Plant based in Stratford-Upon-Avon adjacent to the main IH dealer - Saville Tractors head office. They were quite likely involved with the type of work you have described in y...

HS2 Tunnel Preparation

Hi.

Just found some footage of the preparation work for one of the HS2 tunnels under construction not too far from me in Warwickshire.

Re: 1976 WINGET 4FL2500

Hi Jim. When you find the chassis number, I think you will probably need a written statement confirming the VIN or chassis number from Winget to satisfy DVLA. I used to be asked for this sort of information quite regularly from people asking to register Volvo trucks of that sort of era. See link bel...
