Re: Clutch stuck on 3c?

The clutch on these beasts are right easy to tackle I think around 4 hours usually gets the job done start to finish unless the flywheel needs work, I used to tow a hydrovane compressor to run air spanners to waz them to bits, the heater unit was a faff about but the cover lifts off with a tilt and ...

Re: What is this?

This little beast is as already said a Thwaites 2 Ton dumper, this dumper could level its own load as the skip tips to full hight, they would be rated as the Best Dumper ever built with Plant Boys in their day, very simple and strong with early units fitted with the Petter AVA 2 and later units fitt...

Re: Gardner 8LXB and 8LXCT motors

The 180 and 240 engines used to snap the water pump drive shafts and could leak a bit of blood on the floor, they also had the inlet valves pin locked to stop rotation as they had a shroud on the valve head to cause air rotation in the bore like in the leyland 4/6-98 engines locked with woodruff key...

Fred, I think the Air Cooled engine production at Deutz is now ended, only Water Cooled units built now with a Fan blowing wind.

Re: Classic pictures Update 03/01/2016

In " My Book " Fred I want that water dripping out of the engine fast so I get a bit of work from a knacker up, the fan on air cooled engines is usually half or less the size of a Water cooled engine fan, on some "Dirts" engines the fan is controlled by engine oil to adjust the f...

Well Nick, it was nice to see in the Early Bath for the Kato video, Not a single Hard Hat of High Vis Jacket (Or Shoes on Feet) and a very orderly walking the Plank off the sinking Tub, heck that water was deeper than it looked from here. well done tctractors

Re: Classic pictures Update 03/01/2016

Air Cooled engines need about 1/3rd of the air movement of a water cooled engine, so as a natural choice in a hot climate the engine should cool well and be easy to assist with electric fans for steep climbs, I used to get involved working on a few 8 wheeler tipper trucks fitted with V8 and V10 (LHD...

Re: Classic Plant errors

Well this months Mag did manage to improve some on the loading shovel detail, only 2 had the incorrect info affixed to them, on page 33 a CAT 933 was called a 941, on page 34 (top) I don't think that is a 977 more like a No 6 that fits in a bit before the 9 series loaders? the Next Month page is sti...

Re: Classic Plant errors

Classic Plant, did a blinder in the Tracked Loading Shovels tail, they or someone? managed to get nearly every Shovel detail wrong, I am thinking of sending in a few articles of my own with a condition "Now't removed or messed with" but I know it would only be hacked up to make way for mor...

Re: Digger Man Blog at Earthmovers
