The transmission you have on your machine is the same as mine which has the forward/reverse lever on the left of the console and the handbrake on the floor which confirms that it has the Brokhouse torque convertor with the earlier Leyland transmission and axles as apposed to the later models with th...

JCB Mark I Major Loader Restoration

I must be mad but I am helping a friend to restore a Mark I Major Loader in just 4 weeks! I did the Steelfab in 12 weeks but need to get it complete for an event next month at JCB. What would be of great help would be a parts manual or any drawing or any information which will help the restoration? ...

That sounds familiar as I had an archeological dig in my 3C when I first got it and found all sorts in the footwell including an old council time keeping book from the early 1980's who used to own it. Also the fan guards which had been trodden flat

The transmission lever gaitor is part number ATJ7376 and I bought mine from Charnleys and its only about £10. The excavator lever boots are expensive from JCB but I do have some new spares if you still need them

No the machine in the aution was purchased by Chris Morgan from Gloucester which he is planning to restore at some point in the future
