Some may enjoy this recording by the Maltese owner/operator. Both Leyland truck (with perhaps a later grill) and a very useful 3C 11 with t/c and one off cab (is that an air con unit on the mudguard?).

If you are in maintenance mode might be a good idea to check the oil in the gearbox and steering box, particularly if the dumper has stood outside at anytime.

Perhaps someone else can help here but I think your second dip stick is the transmission dip. That can be checked after the first start of the day. Run on high idle then check dip or you can stop the engine and immediately dip. You will not get an accurate reading if dipping the trans from cold/stop...

Should be dry. Is the oil engine or trans? Could be getting on the starter??

Heard the Crane driver on Rad Essex this am. Very pragmatic and also very relieved to have been late for work. There have been rumours that the crane was not lit sufficiently but apparently under the conditions it would have been unlikely to have made any difference. No doubt there will be calls for...

Which model of Thwaites? Is it a conventional clutch or the brake drum type on the older smaller dumpers?

Would a faulty pump give total loss? I assume the extender works as that is on different pump and circuit??

If it has a Leyland it might be an SL1500. The 2000 looked a bigger beast IIRR. Perhaps the smaller 6cyl Leyland like a 400??
