I was at Malaga with Levertons at Birtley in 1978 and that 983 was impressive

Re: Hanomag L600D super
Bought a Hanomag 600 in 1977, changed to MF 600 when Massey took them over. Decent machine but lacked hydraulic power on the bucket crowd. We even got the local MF dealers to couple the ripper spool to the crowd, but it came nowhere near to a Cat 977 on hard digging. Good engine though and nice to o...

Re: Track Loaders that I have operated CAT & Komatsu
I had several Komatsu D50 direct drive shovels in the 70's. Tough machine and ideal for demolition.

Re: Old CAT 977 Variations
I used to run red shale into Leech sites in the late 60's and remember the 977 with single bar grousers pulling a scraper box, cutting out the roads. The opreator was brilliant, levelling shale with a straight butcket which was almost as wide as the housing estate roads. As for a Cat 983, the only o...

Re: Drott line up
As a loader the B100 was a joke. Anything other than loose material and the engine just died when you put the biucket into a spoil heap. The only good loader in this class that I have seen was a Cat 933G

Re: Old CAT 977 Variations
I have tipped many a load of shale in front of that 977 of Leech's. Brilliant operator, he cut out the narrow housing estate roads using the towed scraper and a straight bucket on the front of the 977. Single bar grousers were possibly D6 or D7 gear. As for Cat 983's Ogdens had one on the western by...
dozers
Hi I am new to this forum. On a Richards & Wallington muckshift site on Tyneside in the late sixties, when a large Russian dozer was brought on site as a demomstrator. They tried to push Cat 631's with it but it was too fast. I think it was diesel electric with a cab mounted amidships and possib...
