Re: JCB 3?
Im with Pete on this debate, my 3c3 weighs in at just under 8t with fuel and fluids, and the leyland 270 tractor JCB used as a base weighed 2.5t. My friends 270 I did the same brake rebuild treatment & has exactly the same braking system can hold ok on a steeper slope where I'd be stood up stand...

Re: jcb 3c 2
If you haven't found the download section already, its a mine of great info on jcb's and many other machines. The engine service manual :- http://www.classicmachinery.net/forum/app.php/dl_ext/?view=detail&df_id=58 I'm making the assumption you have a 4/98, but there's very little difference exte...

Re: jcb 3c 2
My first 4/98 I could never get to seal up properly, and after replacing a liner hydrolocked it a few times but that could be liner or injector sleeve related although there was a loose oversize seat in the head and all sorts. Currently I'm running my spare engine because of various reasons, but I w...

Re: knocking gearbox/axle
The whole top cover of the box comes off along with the gearchange mechanism and shift forks etc, and you can see into the top of the gear cluster for a better view too. I have one of those mk2 boxes on a pallet, but as I'm in France it'd be cheaper for you to buy a replacement 3c2 than to ship it c...

Re: jcb 3c 2
For the cab oil leak, there are multiple hydraulic hoses that go up to the steering orbital valve. It might not be the valve itself, but one of those hoses chaffed or damaged in some way. To get a really good look at the area to diagnose it properly you can take the steering wheel/dash off, but you ...

If your about to do a house build and level the plot, this is probably the time that a 3c3 would be most useful to you.

Re: JCB 3CII Removable Excavator Details
Hi Ted, I totally get that, its a big heavy lump to manipulate back in place. If you have another machine you can call on it makes life safer & easier so maybe you have a neighbor you can bribe with scotch to appear with the farm's telehander like I did mine. Here's some pictures of the jcb 3c2 ...

Re: JCB 3?
As a aside, I went through this a few years ago with my 3c3, took the brakes apart which were seized solid inside, free'd everything up, copper slip on every thing that moved that wasnt a friction surface. Afterwards, its enough to *just* bring the machine to a gradual stop & hold the machine on...

Re: JCB 3CII Removable Excavator Details
Thanks for posting that, it all makes sense and your original description was fine. I was confused because I didn't know the 3c2 came in a detachable backhoe variant, the mk2 frame I have here is firmly welded in place and I've never seen a detachable variant or even knew they existed. But in the JC...
