I think ive asked this before but how much does an old D8 like these weigh? And how do they compare in weight to there modern counterparts the D8T? Joe,shipping weight for a D8k is 56400 lbs or a tad over 25 tons,add the blade & rops cab then its 32 tons,i think a D8N-R-or T is closer to 38 ton...

Hello David,no more combining to do,were on a three year rotation,
two wheats then os rape,ploughing is also finished,i turned in a field
of chopped wheat straw with old faithful and got my brother in the seat
while i took the snaps

Yes john they were,they stopped filling them with oil in the early to mid 60,s
because of cracked frames and loss of oil,then replaced by anti moisture

John,the crack was near the outer right hand side,within easyish reach
to weld, i,m told spud welded a piece of steel under the draft arm in such
a way that when the box was powerd down the crack was twisted back
into shape, clever bloke and knows his job

Deas,like you i thought load the bowl with dirt for starters,but no,Spud came with his mobile workshop and with some welded plate,the help from his crane and the hoist rams on the scraper with D8,he powered it back into perfect shape :thumbs_up:, then welded inside and out, and of course the hole wh...

today,fitting a new recoil spring,the broken one did,nt show up untill new tracks were fitted,and soon as it gripped back went the idler with a bang,with worn out grousers the old tracks just spun before,never had trouble with the springs rusting in the old 22A,s,the housing,s were filled with oil :...

started ploughing chopped wheat straw today and its going well.apart from
we had to gas out a bent top ram-link pin and replace with a harder one,8
furrows are plenty to lift fully mounted,i will try the 10 furrow semi tommorow
