Re: Newbie 200B
They were popular here in Australia.I always found the 3-152 engine reliable & easy to start. The MF200s had a very good boom lift height,so could load a tipper OK.This made them popular with owner-operators.....put the machine in the tip truck & head off to the job. Most had rippers & 4in...

A local company uses a fleet of new & old Volvos for their sand & gravel operations. They have pits around this rural region & stockpile it in a location in town. A couple of other locals use Volvos too. I'm impressed by one bloke who uses a Volvo loader with 4in1 & rippers to dig dam...

Thanks for the pics John.I always liked the look of the Taurus machines.
I wonder if they have MF2244 running gear fitted ?? The 2244 has 140mm pitch chains.

Consider import costs too...quarantine,taxes,etc.
I believe Pilot motors are expensive to repair/replace,as is undercarriage.

Here's a pic of APEX Plates on a Furukawa CD5 Dozer.
I love the gentle sound the Apex tracks make ,especially on softer ground.
The D60 Dozers were popular on farms out here.

Nigel,
Nice pictures & good to see her working.
In the late 90s,I took a pic of a Challenger & a spare ,sitting in a Melbourne car wrecking yard .I think it stayed in Victoria.
I have a single page spec sheet here somewhere..

Re: CAT 931
I tried a twist grip D3 a few years ago....I was totally lost.
The 931 & D3 were a great 6 tonne machine.I know a guy with a D3 that has done 21,000 Hrs doing rural house cuts, driveways, etc. He repaired the finals for the first time recently.
A rebuilt trans will cost about 7K over here now.
