Re: JCB 3c II fuel in the oil - fuel pumps?

I think one cylinder isn't firing very well, check all the injector lines are tight, it would be nice to see how it sounds under a bit of load. Looks like you have a DPA injector pump there. Also see if loosening one injector line at a time you notice differences in running or not, you'll need to ru...

Nice Whitlock, also good to see the early 3CX.

Re: JCB 3c II fuel in the oil - fuel pumps?

Like the idea of a video (Mr MacGregor has no silencer so sounds different from most but odd running will be noticed anyway). It does sound a bit like the injector pump seal has gone but test the lift pump first to be sure (repro part quality is often poor), as changing the seal on a DPA pump is a b...

That's a nice one, quite big too. You can't miss a Major here!

Re: JCB 3c II fuel in the oil - fuel pumps?

Not a 3CX expert but it sounds like torque converter issues. Someone else might be better able to help you with that. As for the noise check the engine mounts otherwise as before can't help much more. You'll probably find better attention if you post this in a new thread where the 3CX experts can se...

That's about half the oil. Good point about cleaning, always worth it.

Re: JCB 3c II fuel in the oil - fuel pumps?

Not a bad idea to clean the strainers (or strainer if your JCB is before 110759) and replace the filter but be ready for 43 gallons of oil as that's what is meant to be in there. The first thing to check for the clutch is the free play, as many have it incorrect. If that doesn't fix it you'll need t...

Great to see an early JCB 2 (I think) with a series II Land-Rover, also like the Thames Trader being properly full.

Re: JCB 3c II fuel in the oil - fuel pumps?

If there's no milky effects or coolant visible in the oil it's fuel, it is possible for the injector pump to leak but I think CAV did a good job on the DPA seals, as leaks aren't common. It's probably a porous lift pump diaphragm, a pretty common problem as the rubber tends to age badly, often the f...

Re: Buyers premium

Not great, we don't go to sales but even then it seems fairly ridiculous, especially given how prices have risen in recent times. All seems a bit over the top and a great way of selling nothing at all.
