Re: JCB 3c II fuel in the oil - fuel pumps?
Not a 3CX expert but it sounds like torque converter issues. Someone else might be better able to help you with that. As for the noise check the engine mounts otherwise as before can't help much more. You'll probably find better attention if you post this in a new thread where the 3CX experts can se...

That's about half the oil. Good point about cleaning, always worth it.

Re: JCB 3c II fuel in the oil - fuel pumps?
Not a bad idea to clean the strainers (or strainer if your JCB is before 110759) and replace the filter but be ready for 43 gallons of oil as that's what is meant to be in there. The first thing to check for the clutch is the free play, as many have it incorrect. If that doesn't fix it you'll need t...

Great to see an early JCB 2 (I think) with a series II Land-Rover, also like the Thames Trader being properly full.

Re: JCB 3c II fuel in the oil - fuel pumps?
If there's no milky effects or coolant visible in the oil it's fuel, it is possible for the injector pump to leak but I think CAV did a good job on the DPA seals, as leaks aren't common. It's probably a porous lift pump diaphragm, a pretty common problem as the rubber tends to age badly, often the f...

Re: Buyers premium
Not great, we don't go to sales but even then it seems fairly ridiculous, especially given how prices have risen in recent times. All seems a bit over the top and a great way of selling nothing at all.

The horns are up on top so I vote for a late Type 3, never seen a Type 4 with the horns there (not even the late ones), and anyway they would have been less likely to be in a yard like that.

Re: Classic pictures Updated 13/04/2024
I'm not convinced about that crawler, but what was officially crimson and cream (for express coaching stock, suburban stock had plain crimson) did quickly become blood and custard to the average railway enthusiast (due to how the crimson weathered in the sun). The pic is however a bit late for these...

Whitlock can't be without the Major! The 5 ton dumper advert has to be much older, as the Major in there is probably before 58.
