Re: Winget 2S project

The little Winget has been busy doing various jobs including moving logs, paving slabs, garden waste and muck shifting. Touch wood, apart from being a bit smoky, all seems to going well  http://www.classicmachinery.net/forum/images/userpix/72038_1Q2R75Z2AN7EY1714341278.jpg

Re: Winget 2S project

After a bit of a battle getting the gearbox dipstick out of the gearbox, I dumped the oil out of the box so I could put some fresh oil in there. What came out of the drain hole was pretty horrific! Firstly a cascade of brown water, followed by some equally brown sludge. I'm not sure I'd identify any...

Re: Petter PH1 - spill timing and rack position...

Well I tried setting the spill at 13/16 but that almost seems to far the other way, as in over-revving when the rack is open, and she wouldn't idle either, just slot chugged to a stop. So I've gone back to setting the spill at a smidge over 1/2 and she runs ok like that. Still not getting into the u...

Re: Petter PH1 - spill timing and rack position...

Thanks Norm. Where am I measuring the 11/16 between? Is that the distance between the calibration mark and the spot face when the screw on the governor arm is just touching the end of the rack spindle? And is that with the governor fully forward (away from the flywheel) or fully back (towards the fl...

Re: Petter PH1 - spill timing and rack position...

Thanks for the replies chaps! Cobba, I'll see if I can find the Lister forum. I did find one called something like Stationary Engine Forum UK but there was seemingly very little on the Petter PH engines... Norm, thanks for the heads up. I've got that manual downloaded and it was the bible for when I...

Petter PH1 - spill timing and rack position...

Apologies if this isn't the right place to ask. I appreciate this is more if an engine question than a dumper question, but in fairness it's fitted to my Winget 2S. I've been messing around with petrol engines for about 35 years, but diesels, more specifically their fuelling systems, I'm not so fami...

Re: Winget 2S project

I refitted the injector without the washer, and after setting the spill point and she started up pretty easily once the fuel system was fully bled. Happy days! The only issue I have now really is that it's hard to get the engine to rev. The governor is pushing the rack back to the right (away from t...

Re: Winget 2S project

Whilst in the process of the rebuild I had a few challenges. Some expected, some not! The first one was that my engine didn't have the priming lever fitted ("lever B"). It turned out the priming shaft/cam was seized solid. I ended up buying a used pump bracket assembly for the lever, and a...
