Re: Can not start jcb 3cx backhoe, help
Hi Matt, If you're Aussie, Easy Start = Start you Bastard! :D To find out your year model, check your serial number on the silver plate (Right side as you sit in the seat, just near the front wheel) it should end with /L (Leyland engine) or /P (Perkins engine) - Rouse Hill Tractors can tell you your...

Re: 1983 JCB 3cx
Thanks Essexpete, I like your first paragraph way better than the second one, which scares the heck out of me! Thanks so much for your help. We are in the process of trying to find an oil cooler, as the machine doesn't have one and a previous owner has bodgied up hose connections. I guess the lack o...

Re: 1983 JCB 3cx
Hi Ian and Essexpete, I am not sure what I have, though I have read before that I should have a Borg Warner shuttle - it has the long handle. I'm not sure what gearbox it has. I have found trying to work out which oils to use, so confusing, along with what the different parts are called. If I could ...

Re: 1983 JCB 3cx
Hi again Ian,
in addition to the questions I asked last night about the hydraulic tank baffles etc. - have you changed or added to your transmission oil? If so, what did you use? I am totally confused by all the codes I see and don't know where to start. Cheers

Re: 1983 JCB 3cx
Thanks Ian. Does yours have the "baffle" on both tanks or just the one? The one on my right hand tank (when sitting on the seat) is at an angle, not upright, any ideas why it's on an angle? I had to put it back on an angle, as the holes in the metal plate cover are not all the same distanc...

1983 JCB 3cx
Hi all, I have a question about my recently purchased 1983 3cx Auto (Perkins engine): I am in the middle of changing the hydraulic fluid over and replacing all the filters - after draining the tanks, I have opened the circular metal plates on either side of the tanks. On the left side (when sitting ...
