Re: Help identifying a JCB 3C or 3CS, 196x
Found some more serial numbers and part numbers today that might shed light on the model and the year. I put them and a few more pics in the first post. All thoughts and comments are welcome!

Re: Help identifying a JCB 3C or 3CS, 196x
Happy to say, the brakes are all ok now! :) Less happy with the backhoe. Turned out the cylinder on the stick (the ‘bucket cylinder’ right?) needs replacing, well at least the barrel but I assume it’s easier to replace the entire cylinder if I find a used one or some generic make that matches. Any c...

Re: Help identifying a JCB 3C or 3CS, 196x
I agree it’s most likely not a 3 looking at the cab and the high support legs. I would also guess an early 3C. Couldn’t find any serials yesterday I’m afraid, will give it another try later on. Looking at the main issues with it right now: 1. The backhoe dipper cylinder is leaking hydraulic oil and ...

I’m thinking the cab door wasn’t introduced until 1964 but it might of course have been replaced as well...

Re: Help identifying a JCB 3C or 3CS, 196x
Hi, many thanks essexpete and Jeremy! Assuming that ‘slew pots’ are the joints for the backhoe or the swivel joints for the hydraulics to the backhoe, I added three pics that might help? I’ll have a look for that serial number later today! E47335B9-F7BE-4D85-A2E7-B3998B6E3F44.jpeg 3A6CB8FC-CE96-4CEA...

Help identifying a JCB 3C or 3CS, 196x
Just bought a JCB and a bit curious about the model and year as I can’t figure it out myself. From the backhoe plates it looks like a 3C but the serial numbers stamped into the frame it might be a 3CS... Could be that the backhoe was mounted afterwards? I’m thinking it is a 1964-1966 as there is a s...
