Re: Which model Thwaites is this?

Keep having fun in getting it to let go. Persist and you will win! Enjoy your Easter as well, I am serving Lorry the truck for toys and fiddling about fitting lights onto the mudguards of the Cropmaster restoration job.

Re: Which model Thwaites is this?

Yes, the acid use is super corrosive and only used as a last resort by me on that small engine.
Fowlerman that is a good idea as it may not be the pistons stuck it may be a bearing gone and that might be holding the piston in place.

Re: Which model Thwaites is this?

The amount of water drained from the sump may not have done much damage the same as the bore. A couple of days is not long enough to unseize an engine that is stuck. It takes time to have any effect on the stuck engine. Using coke or vinegar mixes does work just takes a lot longer. A mixture with go...

Re: Which model Thwaites is this?

They are still upside down when I look at them here in Australia too! I would try to strip and repair what you have, with in reason. Just because it is ceased doesn't mean that it wont run again. I have unstuck a few different types of engine from tractors to stationary ones and they are perfectly o...

Re: Italian Dumper

Thanks for posting all these images and info on each different machine. Having the reversible driver plate would be a handy option but something you think they would not want to post on a leaflet is the emptying of a gravel load onto the machine itself as it is not on level ground. Now they have a p...

Re: Benford dumper 1 ton brake shoes

Take your parts to the local brake shop and they will be able to either bond new linings on for your or sell you the rivet type. The wheel cylinder should also then be identified and supplied.

Ball & Roller Bearings

Yesterday I found out once again if you think that the bearing you are chasing is no longer available or is a rare beast and the price is way too high I found this is what my bearing supply shop did for me. Yes this is a wheel bearing off a David Brown Cropmaster tractor that I am restoring and at t...

Re: Centre pivot

I dropped the axle on my small 1500kg Benford Roughrider looking for wear and tare. The centre pivot pin and the bushes had very little wear but it would be a simple job to renew the bushes if required. You could use a hacksaw blade and make a cut along the bush and then tap it out or use the new bu...

Re: Benford TT25 layrub spec?

Cheers, you learn something new each day. It is used instead of a universal joint but does a similar job. Some other early vintage cars had a similar idea but they used a rubberised canvas as plastic was not up to this stage if flexibility.

Re: Benford TT25 layrub spec?

Never heard of this part, what is it?

Would be a good idea to make one before you go to pick it up. Parts generally are not available over the counter. Also a model number would help others as to see if they have any parts that may help you out.
